Maxima wins again: Veronesi leads Rome to 89–75 victory in Tortona
Maxima Roma is beginning to find its rhythm in Serie A. One week after winning the historic Rome derby, Matteo Cotelli's team defeated Bertram Derthona Tortona 89–75 on the road, securing its second consecutive league victory.
After a slow start, Maxima took control in the second quarter, building a 15-point advantage and leading 47–38 at halftime. Tortona repeatedly attempted to close the gap, but the visitors responded with timely three-pointers and maintained control of the game.

Olynyk scores 17, but BC Roma falls to Venezia in front of 2,600 fans
BC Roma suffered its second consecutive Serie A defeat on Saturday, losing 104–98 to Umana Reyer Venezia at the Palazzetto dello Sport despite an impressive offensive performance.

Donnie Nelson: BC Roma's future does not depend on NBA Europe
BC Roma's American-led ownership group is committed to building a long-term basketball project in the Italian capital, regardless of whether the club eventually joins NBA Europe.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, former Dallas Mavericks executive Donnie Nelson addressed speculation surrounding the club's future and explained how the investment group came together.
According to Nelson, the project developed through contacts with former player Rimantas Kaukenas and eventually involved Luka Dončić, who personally invested in the initiative.
The organisation now includes several prominent figures with NBA experience, including Bryan Colangelo as an advisor and former Mavericks executive George Killebrew as President of Global Business Operations.
Nelson also acknowledged discussions with AS Roma's ownership, including Ryan Friedkin, although no formal partnership has been announced.
One major challenge remains unresolved: the arena. BC Roma currently plays at the Palazzetto dello Sport, while larger facilities would be required for a more ambitious international project. Potential alternatives involve significant logistical and scheduling questions.
Why it matters: Nelson's comments suggest BC Roma is positioning itself as more than a speculative NBA Europe franchise bid. Virtus Roma stays unbeaten with hard-fought 82–75 win in Lucca
While BC Roma and Maxima compete in Italy's top division, another historic name is building momentum in the capital.
Virtus Roma 1960 defeated Basketball Club Lucca 82–75 on Sunday, extending its unbeaten start to the Serie B Nazionale season.
The visitors appeared to be in complete control after an explosive opening quarter, taking a 29–9 lead. Lucca gradually fought back, however, reducing the deficit to seven points at halftime and just three entering the final quarter.
The hosts continued to threaten, but Virtus held on to secure its third consecutive league victory.
Yancarlos Rodriguez led Roma with 27 points, supported by David Jelinek with 22.
Virtus now holds a 3–0 record and remains the only unbeaten team in its Serie B group.
